BOSTON – Twelve Boston Public Schools (BPS) teachers and staff have been selected to receive the 2009 Educator of the Year and Service Excellence Awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the children of the Boston Public Schools.
Mayor Thomas M. Menino will join School Committee Chair Rev. Gregory Groover, Superintendent Carol R. Johnson, and Boston Teachers Union President Richard Stutman to honor the winners in a special ceremony at the Shubert Theatre on June 8. Bianca de la Garza, Anchor/Reporter at WCVB-TV, will serve as master of ceremonies for the event.
