There are several registration periods for families applying for seats in September 2010.  To improve your chances of being assigned to a school of your choice, apply during the earliest registration period for your child’s grade.

First registration period

Kindergarten, Grade 6, Grade 9

January 4, 2010 - February 5, 2010*

For students entering Kindergarten (K0 for 3-year-olds, K1 for four-year-olds, K2 for five-year-olds), and students entering Grade 6 or 9.  NOTE: Grade 1 registration is no longer part of the first registration period.  Families seeking an assignment to any of these grades -- including new-to-BPS and transfer requests -- should register during this period. Families registering during this period who also have children in other grades may also register during this time, but the applications will be processed during the second registration period.

To avoid long lines, we recommend the following schedule for registering during the first registration period.  Visit a Family Resource Center based on the first initial of the parent's last name:

• A - I, January 4 – 8, 2010
• J - Q, January 11 – 15, 2010
• R - Z, January 19 – 22, 2010
• Open to all, January 25 – February 5, 2010

Please note: The East Zone Family Resource Center also will be open on Saturday, January 23 and Saturday, January 30, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Assignment notices for students registered during this period are mailed to families' homes in mid-March.

Second registration period

All grades: Kindergarten through Grade 12

February 10, 2010 - March 26, 2010

For students entering any grade, Kindergarten  through Grade 12.  

Assignment notices for students registered during this period are mailed to families' homes in early May.

Third registration period

All grades: Kindergarten through Grade 12

March 29, 2010 - May 14, 2010

For students entering any grade, Kindergarten  through Grade 12.  

Assignment notices for students registered during this period are mailed to families' homes in mid-June.

Fourth registration period

All grades: Kindergarten through Grade 12

May 17, 2010 - June 11, 2010

For students entering any grade, Kindergarten through Grade 12.  

Assignment notices for students registered during this period are mailed to families' homes in early July.
