BOSTON – Superintendent Carol R. Johnson today announced additional principal appointments to lead Boston Public Schools next year. The list includes acting principals made permanent, as well as school leaders new to the role. Dr. Johnson will continue to announce principal and headmaster appointments throughout the month of June.
Dr. Johnson also announced the appointment of Dr. Linda Cabral as Assistant Academic Superintendent for High Schools. Dr. Linda Cabral, an alumna of the Boston Public Schools, has worked in the district her entire professional career. She began as an elementary school teacher before teaching at the high school level. She was the headmaster of Hyde Park High School before she started her current assignment as the headmaster of the Community Academy of Science and Health. Dr. Cabral earned a bachelor’s degree from Wheelock College, a master’s degree from Boston College and a doctorate from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
Joseph P. Manning Elementary School, Jamaica Plain
Ethan d’Ablemont Burnes, Principal
Ethan d’Ablemont Burnes is a Boston Principal Fellow working at the Ohrenberger Elementary School in West Roxbury, where he is a member of both the instructional leadership and the student support teams. He began his career in education teaching in Denver before returning to Boston to teach at the Boston Renaissance Charter School. Mr. d’Ablemont Burnes was also a policy director with the Boston Plan for Excellence and a policy analyst for the Office of the Governor. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and master’s degrees from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
John D. Philbrick Elementary School, Roslindale
Laurie Carr, Principal
Laurie Carr has been the acting principal at the Philbrick for the past two years. Ms. Carr has taught in various school districts across the country and abroad before returning to Massachusetts as the middle school principal at the Boston Renaissance Charter School and principal at the South Memorial Elementary School in Peabody. She was also selected by the U.S. Department of Education to participate in the Fulbright-Hays Seminars Abroad. Ms. Carr holds a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Jackson-Mann K-8 School, Allston
Andy Tuite, Principal
Andy Tuite served as principal of the Lewenberg Middle School this school year and previously was principal of the Grover Cleveland Middle School for two years. He also served as Program Director of Secondary Mathematics for the Boston Public Schools, in which he oversaw the implementation of the district’s mathematics program, supervised designated mathematics coaches, and assisted principals and headmasters in the supervision and evaluation of mathematics teachers. Mr. Tuite also was a school support specialist at the Cleveland and whole school change coach for BPS. His past assignments in Brockton Public Schools included junior math teacher, junior high guidance counselor, and junior high instructional resource specialist. Mr. Tuite received a master’s degree from Bridgewater State College and a bachelor’s degree from Stonehill College.

Kathleen Dawson, Headmaster
Kathleen Dawson has been the assistant headmaster at Brook Farm Business and Service Career Academy since 2005 where she actively participated in the creation of this new small school. Prior to this post, she was the assistant headmaster at the Hyde Park High School as well as a math specialist and unit leader at Charlestown High School. In addition, she is a graduate of the Emerging Leaders Program at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Ms. Dawson holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Superior and a master’s degree from Harvard University.
Jeremiah E. Burke High School, Dorchester
Lindsa McIntyre, Headmaster
Lindsa McIntyre comes to the Burke after having served four years as headmaster of Community Academy, an alternative high school in Boston, where she supervised all staff and collaborated with external partners to build a positive school environment. Previously, she was assistant headmaster of Boston Day & Evening Academy, and also worked at the King Middle School and City on a Hill Charter School. Ms. McIntyre began her teaching career in Boston at the Burke High School in 1996 and won a Golden Apple award for excellence in teaching. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Lesley College and a master’s degree from Boston College.

Carol Bradley Moore, Headmaster
Carol Bradley Moore has served as headmaster of the Burke High School since 2001 and recently oversaw the successful decennial accreditation visit of the school. Previously, she was assistant headmaster of the Burke for six years. Ms. Bradley Moore has an extensive background in special education, including five years as head of the special education department at the former Hyde Park High School. Ms. Bradley Moore began her teaching career in Boston in 1975 at the Marshall Elementary School. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Lesley College and a master’s degree from Simmons College.

Tanya Freeman-Wisdom, Headmaster
Tanya Freeman-Wisdom has been the assistant headmaster at the Community Academy of Science and Health (CASH) since 2005 where, among other things, she supervised all content area departments as well as identified and developed teacher professional development. Before serving as the assistant headmaster at CASH, she was the assistant headmaster and taught Advanced Placement English Language Arts at Hyde Park High School. Ms. Freeman-Wisdom earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and her master’s degree from Simmons College.

Rudolph Weekes, Headmaster
Rudolph “Rudy” Weekes is the headmaster of the Academy of Public Service in Dorchester, where he began his administrator career as the assistant headmaster. He joined the district as a high school mathematics teacher and became a math specialist at Dorchester High School. Mr. Weekes holds a bachelor’s degree from Salem State College and a master’s degree from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
Odyssey High School, South Boston
Dr. Rodney Peterson, Headmaster
Dr. Rodney Peterson comes to Boston from the Memphis City Schools, where he served as assistant principal of Central High School for two years. He has served in various capacities in Memphis since 2001, including biology teacher, track/cross-country coach, guidance counselor, and instructional facilitator. Dr. Peterson started his career in teaching in 2000 in the Tulsa (Oklahoma) Public Schools. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Tulsa, and a doctorate from the University of Mississippi-Oxford.
